Deer at Nara

It´s curious how the same sort of animals might be either fearful or trusted.

I´ve seen deer in many different places and in most of them I was only able to see them in a dignified poise just for a few seconds before they quickly started to run into the forest.

But in Nara, they are sacred animals since long time ago. They are believed to be messengers of the Gods since a God came down from the mountain riding on a white deer.

Thousands of deer walk around the town of Nara when they come down from the mountain in search of fresh grass. They are wild like in every other place but they don´t fear humans as we will never hurt them in there.
